Week 55: Let it Snow

Let it snow, the phrase that every normal Canadian absolutely despises. But the white stuff started yesterday and will most likely be there for the rest of winter. Should be fun! Not much happened this week. We had all of our appointments cancel for various reasons, but we were able to do lots of service, so that was fun. We have been helping a non member build a pond in her front yard which has been great. She owns an ice cream shop so we have been getting free ice cream! And we met this absolutely off his rocker East Indian who talked to us for about 30 min as we were tracting. He said that he was going to give us the lesson, not the other way around. It took everything in us not to laugh the entire time. But as crazy as he was he called out Elder Leyerle and guessed his birthday, right on the dot, haha he was so shocked for the rest of the day. Fun stuff that we get to encounter here in Beaumont.

I also gained an extreme dislike for a phrase that lots of people use to rationalize disobedience. "Oh I don't care, i go home in xx days. The planes not coming any faster!" i really hate it. its too bad to see missionaries who get super lazy and disobedient at the end of their missions. But I guess, these are the types of things to learn from and not the make the same mistakes. Every time I even think of rationalizing something, this past week especially, I get the thought, "Do you want your wife to be fat?" I thought it was pretty funny when I recognized it, and appropriate or not, it works! so I'll run with it.

Scripture of the week is Mormon 9:7-11,18-19,20. I won't put in all of it, but it's great stuff.

For do we not read that God is the same yesterdaytoday, and forever, and in him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing?10 And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves god who doth vary, anin whom there is shadow of changing, then have ye imagined up unto yourselves god who is not God of miracles.
18 And who shall say that JesuChrist did not do many mightmiraclesAnd there were manmighty miracles wrought by the hands of the apostles.
19 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, say unto you he changeth notif so he would cease to be God; and he ceasetnot to be God, and is God of miracles.
God is a God of Miracles and works according to our faith. As we are dilligent  in keeping the commandments of God and have the faith, we will see all the many miracles wrought by God, whether big or small.
Have a great week

Week 54: Sacrifice Brings Blessings

It was a really great week this week. There was lots of finding going on whether it was looking up former investigators, going through our potential sheets, or tracting, we did it all! And we found some people that are interested! We went tracting for quite a bit on wednesday i think it was and it was just pouring. I love tracting in the rain, for whatever reason. Its miserable, but i love it! We were able to pick up a new investigator who is willing to be baptized when he finds out it is true! Tracting in miserable circumstances(at least for me) brings extra blessings in my opinion. Plus its where all the great stories come from!

For example, we were talking to this lady at her door and her dog came out onto the porch. We asked how her faith in Christ had helped her in her life and then a big guy came walking to the door super quick and speaking loudly said "We go to that church right there(pointing to the catholic church) so there it is!" and proceeded to slam the door. as he was doing so the kids yelled "but what about the dog!" and the door slammed. we couldnt help ourselves, we were busting up laughing! haha it was great! especially seeing him open the door, quickly get the dog, and slam the door again. The very next door a lady let us in and share a message with her and said she wouldnt mind us coming back and teaching her.

Quote of the week again comes from my great patience building companion. "Elder Leyerle, why in the heck were you doing laundry at like 2 this morning?" quickly and sharply he said "it wasnt 2, it was 4." Just loads of fun stuff eh? haha there is never a dull moment it seems.

Scripture of the week comes from Ether 6:3,10
" And thus the Lord caused stones to shine in darkness, to give light unto men, women, and children, that they might not cross thegreat waters in darkness.
10 And thus they were driven forth; and no monster of the sea could break them, neither whale that could mar them; and theydid have light continuallywhether it was above the water or under the water."
The Lord gives us light, so we dont have to cross the waters, or life, in darkness. Whether we are on top of life and having fun, or under a bunch of trials and tribulations, We have the light of Jesus Christ to look to, to help us through every situation of life. The Atonement of Christ covers all! How great is that?!
Have a great week!
